Controversial Religious Texts To Be Removed From School Books

Controversial religious texts to be removed from school books in Karnataka.

The Karnataka government is set to form a high-powered committee to remove controversial texts from religion-related textbooks for classes 1 to 10.

It will also remove controversial books blaming Vedic religion for the rise of other religions like Jainism and Buddhism in India.

Sources said the government will constitute a high-powered committee to review all such controversial issues in textbooks for classes I to X.

There have been objections to the controversial text in Part-I, a social science subject for class VI students.

The controversial material talks about the birth of new religions, especially Buddhism and Jainism.

Earthquake tremors felt in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, magnitude 4.5.

Tremors were felt in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. According to the National Center for Seismology, the tremors were felt 137 km north of Diglipur in Andaman and Nicobar.

It was told that this earthquake occurred at 8:50 am on Saturday morning. The magnitude of this earthquake in the islands was 4.5.

However, there is no report of any damage in this earthquake. Earlier today earthquake tremors were felt in Uttarakhand too. People say that the tremors were very strong.

An earthquake struck Uttarakhand at around 5.58 am today. The epicenter of the earthquake was at Joshimath in Chamoli district.

It came five km inside the earth. Also, its intensity was recorded at 4.7 on the Richter scale. However, no damage was reported from the earthquake.

Why does an earthquake happen?

Earth is mainly made up of four layers, inner core, outer core, mantle, and crust. The crust and upper mantle are called the lithosphere.

This 50-km-thick layer is divided into sections, which are called tectonic plates. These tectonic plates keep moving from their place, but when they move too much, an earthquake occurs.

These plates can move both horizontally and vertically. After this, they find their place and in such a situation one plate comes under the other.

Why do plates collide?

Actually, these planets keep rotating very slowly. Thus, every year they move 4-5 mm from their place. When one plate moves near another plate, another moves away. So sometimes they collide.
