Congress Will Support BJP Supported Government In Meghalaya

Congress will support BJP supported government in Meghalaya, a letter submitted to Chief Minister.

It is very difficult to say anything about which party will come with whom in politics. Something similar is going to happen in the northeastern state of Meghalaya as well.

Rivals BJP and Congress are both going to be part of the same ruling alliance.

All five Congress MLAs in Meghalaya on Tuesday expressed their willingness to join the BJP-backed National People’s Party (NPP)-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government.

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Majel Amparin Lyngdoh along with her MLAs met Chief Minister Conrad Sangma at the Secretariat and handed over letters of support to him.

“We would like to strengthen you and MDA by joining the government to take the state forward and for the benefit of the people,” said the letter. The letter has the signatures of all the five MLAs.

Lyngdoh said that he has nothing to do with the BJP. They do not even care who is included in the government and who is not.

“They don’t know whether the BJP is in alliance or not. We have not asked the government who its allies are. Congress MLAs have decided to support the government for the development of Meghalaya.

He did not directly respond to a question whether he had taken permission from the party high command before announcing his support to the MDA government.

He said that we are five MLAs and are capable of taking decisions in the interest of the state. Lyngdoh said that they are all in Congress.
