Bhupesh Baghel met Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra in Chhattisgarh amid the ongoing tussle over the chief minister’s chair and succeeded in persuading them.
Now there is no threat to his chief minister’s post. He also invited Rahul to come to Chhattisgarh before returning to Raipur on Saturday.
Bhupesh Baghel spoke to Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra for three hours.
According to the information received from the sources, Baghel has got success in persuading the party high command. After this, the threat from his chief minister’s post was averted.
CM Bhupesh Baghel, ministers, and MLAs along with other leaders will return to Raipur today. This time there will be no show of power at the airport.
According to party sources, a clear message has been given to the workers in this regard. Despite this, the possibility of the crowd gathering at the airport to welcome Baghel cannot be ruled out.
The Congress high command issued in Chhattisgarh had sent a call to Baghel.
Soon after this, Chief Minister Baghel reached Delhi on Thursday with many supporters including 55 MLAs, 15 district presidents, and 5 mayors.
On the other hand, Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singhdeo demanded a change in leadership citing the rotation policy, and showed a banner against the Chief Minister.
In June this year, the Baghel government completed its two-and-a-half-year term.
A source who was present in this meeting informed that Chief Minister Baghel had also listed the welfare schemes started during his tenure.
According to the source, ‘The Chief Minister said that the administration of Chhattisgarh government under his leadership is better than that of Gujarat government.
The Congress party can present the model of the Chhattisgarh administration in front of the country.
Baghel told that his government started many welfare schemes for the development of tribal communities and rural economies.
Later, during a conversation with a reporter in Delhi, Chief Minister Baghel said that on his request, Rahul Gandhi is coming to Chhattisgarh next week.
“As chief minister, I have invited Rahul Gandhi to visit Chhattisgarh,” he said.
It is noteworthy that the supporters of Baghel present in Delhi held a meeting one after the other in which talks were held with Chhattisgarh State President PL Punia and All India Congress Committee General Secretary KC Venugopal.
TS Singhdeo was not present in all these meetings. Earlier on Thursday, he told ANI that everyone in the team aspires to be the captain.
