Who will listen to the prayer of the one who misbehaved with the child? Kerala High Court’s remarks while sentencing the priest.

Kerala HC while awarding a life sentence to a priest accused of misconduct made heart-wrenching remarks that we wonder who would have listened to the prayers of such a priest who misbehaved with a girl child.

The priest is accused of repeatedly raping a minor in front of his siblings.

A bench of Justices K Vinod Chandran and Ziad Rehman AA on Friday, while awarding maximum punishment to accused Madhu, a resident of Manjeri.

The court said that when a man abandons his wife and children, then he like a vulture not only kills abandoned women but also he does not spare even the helpless children from making his victims.

The court made this observation while hearing the petition of the accused, who was convicted of raping a minor girl.

The bench said that in this case, we have seen a priest who kept three children of an abandoned woman with him so that he could do wrong with their elder daughter.

We wonder which god would have accepted the prayer of such a priest. The court held that after the offense of raping the girl is proved, the accused deserves to be convicted under section 376(1).

We are of the opinion that he should be given maximum punishment.
