China Is Putting Pressure On Its Neighbors: Jens Stoltenberg

China is putting pressure on its neighbors, NATO Secretary-General drew attention in Raisina Dialogue.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg drew Tuesday’s attention to China’s steps to put pressure on neighbors in the region and hamper freedom of navigation in the South China Sea.

He said that the Trans Atlantic military coalition is countering the security effects generated by China Is an important platform for Stoltenberg also said in his online address in the ‘Raisina Dialogue’ that India has an important role in the Indo-Pacific region.

He said that there is a lot of scopes for NATO to work with the country in a different way without being part of unified military cooperation.

He said, ‘India has an important role in the Indo-Pacific region. It is also an important and active international stakeholder. You are one of the largest military contributors to UN peacekeeping operations.

Currently a member of the United Nations Security Council. You will take over as the President of the G20 in 2023. He said that India really does matter in the global scenario.

‘The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is an intergovernmental military alliance between 30 European and North American countries.

He mentioned that the rise of China is a defining global issue, which has implications for all. He also created many opportunities with the rise of China.

He said that China has brought millions of people out of poverty, brought economic development and prosperity, and is an important trade and investment partner for many NATO countries.

Stoltenberg said that China’s economy will soon be the world’s largest economy, it is a permanent member of the UN Security Council and therefore it is helpful in tackling the issues of our time – from global governance to international trade and climate change.

He said, “That is why in NATO we are engaging with China.” In the past, we have cooperated against the piracy problem off the coast of Somalia.

There are areas where China can play a constructive role for our mutual benefit. From peace and stability in Afghanistan to talks on the arms control regime.

He said, “But we should be clear about the challenges that come with the rise of China.”
