China Earthquake: The earthquake wreaked havoc in Sichuan, China, and the death toll rises to 74.

The death toll in Monday’s earthquake in China’s Sichuan province has now reached 74.

According to a local news agency, Ganzi’s rescue headquarters said 40 people were killed, 14 missing and 170 injured in Ganji as of 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Expressway toll booths have opened more than 700 special channels for earthquake relief.

All service areas along the Chengdu-Luding Expressway are fully stocked with epidemic prevention supplies, oil products, food items, and other emergency supplies.

The electricity supply was restored in Sichuan.

More than 1,900 officers of the People’s Liberation Army, armed police, and soldiers have reached the earthquake-hit area and are involved in the search.

As a result of the quake, the power supply to the province was cut off.

However, the state grid Sichuan Electric Power Company said that the electricity supply to some 22,000 homes in the quake-hit area had been restored after an overnight emergency repair.

The Global Times reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping requested all possible relief efforts to save lives and reduce casualties after a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Luding County.

The Red Cross Society of China has launched a Level-III emergency response with the first batch of relief material consisting of 320 tents, 2,200 relief packages, 1,200 quilts, and 300 folding beds, sent to the affected area.

Red Cross also took part in the rescue work.

The Red Cross has also sent a task force there to help with relief and rescue operations.

Sichuan province has activated the second highest level of emergency response to the quake and more rescue forces are arriving in the area.

According to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC), an earthquake struck Luding County at 12:52 pm on Monday.

The epicenter of the earthquake is 39 km from the county seat of Luding and there are several villages within a range of 5 km around the epicenter.

The tremors were felt in Sichuan’s capital Chengdu, which is 226 km from the epicenter. The quake was also felt in the provincial capital, Chengdu.
