Police in Sylhet, Bangladesh, on Saturday arrested the main accused in a case of vandalizing the houses of 87 Hindu families earlier this week.
A man named Shahidul Islam has been arrested by the Police Bureau (PBI) officials. According to the report, he is the chairman of the local Bangladesh Awami Jubo League unit.

Giving information about this, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Banu Kumar Majumdar said that the man was arrested on Saturday from Kulaura in the Moulvibazar district.
He said that the attack came on Wednesday, a day after a Hindu youth criticized Maulana Mamunul Haque, joint general secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, a group of Islamic advocates on social media. The latter took place.

Banu Kumar said that the young man was later arrested. In fact, hundreds of Hefajat supporters attacked houses in Sunamganj’s Shalla Upazila.

Earlier on Thursday, 22 locals were arrested for their involvement in the attack.
