Chennai & Coimbatore Corporation Tender Abuse Case Dismissed

Chennai and Coimbatore Corporation tender abuse case dismissed: Madras High Court.

Many of the tenders sought various works in Chennai and Coimbatore during the previous AIADMK regime.

The Madras High Court has dismissed a petition seeking the inclusion of mayors and officials in the corporation tender cases in connection with the tender scam.

During the previous AIADMK regime, hundreds of crores of rupees had been misappropriated in soliciting tenders for various works in Chennai and Coimbatore.

DMK MP RS Bharathi and the crusade movement had complained in the Madras High Court.

Based on these complaints, the Anti-Corruption Department has registered a case against 17 people, including former minister Velumani.

In this context, a case has been filed in the Chennai High Court on behalf of the Direct Movement seeking an order to include the former mayors and officials of Chennai and Coimbatore in the case from 2014 to 2018.

In the petition, he noted that it was the mayors who had signed off on the tenders and it was shocking that they were not included in the case.

As the final report, in this case, has not been filed yet, he has sought an order directing the Anti-Corruption Department to consider the petition seeking the inclusion of those involved.

When the case came up for hearing in the session of Chief Justice Munishwarnath Bandari and Justice Bharat Chakraborty, the judges dismissed the case with fines.

Judges said it was a misuse of the court to pursue public interest litigation without knowing any procedure and that the High Court had instructed the High Court not to consider the petitions.

Following this, the judges allowed the case to be withdrawn and dismissed the petitioner’s plea that the case is withdrawn.

Salem mayor’s car was blocked by protesters.

The public besieged the mayor’s car and staged a protest, accusing him of not providing proper drinking water in Salem.

It is said that drinking water has not been supplied for the last 10 days in the Gorimedu area under the 6th ward of Salem Corporation.

At this point, when Mayor Ramachandran came through, the public blocked his car and besieged it. They subsequently complained to him that there was no proper drinking water supply in the area.
