In his address at an event, General Chauhan referred to operational preparedness, modernization of armed forces, transformation of military hardware and indigenization as the key pillars to promote national security. General Chauhan said that in the most violent decade since World War II, there is an increasing tendency to use force to prevent conflicts between nations.
According to the Ministry of Defense, he said that increasing uncertainty and insecurity are prompting nations to renew their national security strategy and increase spending on defense. Addressing the Foreign Service Attaché (FSA) organised by the Defence Intelligence Agency of Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, he said that our operational preparedness should be of a very high level. We have to always be prepared for short and intense conflicts to long-term war.
India is significantly increasing its war capabilities, especially since the dispute with China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The Chief of Defence Staff also emphasised the importance of data-centric warfare and the role of artificial intelligence in warfare. The CDS also spoke about India’s self-reliance in defence capability development and strategic autonomy.
