CBI arrests 2 senior railway officials in a corruption case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two senior officials, including an Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE) officer, in a corruption case.
The arrested accused have been identified as Senior Divisional Signal and Telecommunication Engineer (IRSSE: 2010 batch) Vivek Langayan and Chief Office Superintendent Praveen Kumar.
CBI Arrests 2 Senior Railway Officials: Both were posted in the DRM’s office at Ambala Cantt. While accepting a bribe of Rs 1.80 lakh from the complainant.
The CBI said that a case has been registered against the accused on the complaint of demanding a bribe.
It was alleged that the complainant was awarded two contracts through open tender worth Rs 92 lakh and Rs 1.15 crore, and after the completion of the project, he submitted revised estimates.
It was further alleged that the Chief Office Superintendent demanded a bribe which was two percent of the gross contract value on behalf of the Senior Divisional Signal and Telecom Engineer in lieu of approval of the Revised Estimates.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding and taking a bribe of five lakh rupees. 1.8 lakh was taken from the complainant.
Searches were conducted at the residential and office premises of both the accused in Ambala, in which incriminating documents were recovered.
Both the arrested accused were produced in the competent court of Panchkula on Wednesday.
Udaipur Killing: On the instructions of Amit Shah, the Ministry of Home Affairs handed over the investigation to the NIA, and the agency started the investigation.
NIA has started the investigation by registering a case under terrorist sections in the heinous murder of Kanhaiyalal Teli in Udaipur.
Following the instructions of Home Minister Amit Shah, the Home Ministry has asked the NIA to investigate the matter.
NIA officials had reached Udaipur on Tuesday evening immediately after the incident and now the investigation team led by Joint Director has camped in Udaipur.
New Director-General of NIA Dinkar Gupta is supervising the investigation.
