CBI Arrests 2 Constables On Charges Of Bribery

CBI arrests 2 constables on charges of bribery for recruitment in the army. Officials gave this information on Wednesday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two Army constables for alleged bribery in the recruitment of Multitasking Staff (MTS) in the Indian Army.

In a joint operation with the Army, the CBI on Tuesday night arrested the constables, who allegedly demanded money from the selected candidates saying that their papers were incomplete, officials said.

He said that it is alleged that the accused posted in the Ordnance Depot used to call the selected candidates for MTS and threaten them that their appointment will be canceled if their papers are not completed.

Officials said that in this way they used to extort money from them by promising to send appointment letters.

CBI arrests 2 constables: This action came after a tip-off to the Southern Command of the Army in Pune.

Officials said that in continuation of its policy of zero tolerance to corrupt practices, the Army has initiated a joint investigation with the CBI into possible misconduct by lower-level employees.

An official said the army has strict rules to deal with such misconduct and there has been a speedy investigation to ensure punitive action against the culprit.

Conflict over increasing the jurisdiction of BSF in Bengal – ADG said – we do not have the right to investigate

The tug of war is going on between the Central Government and the State Government to increase the jurisdiction of BSF in Bengal.

Now in this matter, the ADG of BSF said that the working limit for BSF in Bengal, Assam, and Punjab has been increased by the Ministry of Home Affairs from 15 km to 50 km.

The BSF does not have the authority to investigate or register an FIR. We apprehend a person and hand him over to the local law enforcement agency.

Along with this, it is being told in many places through the media that the Border Security Force will also investigate the law and order situation under this.

I would like to state that the BSF did not have the power of investigation before and neither does it today.

The BSF has issued a statement saying that the increased jurisdiction in the state is an enabling provision aimed at strengthening the efforts of the state police.

He also said that BSF is working closely with the police for India-Bangladesh border operations, patrolling, deployment of joint nakas, and establishment of anti-human trafficking units.
