Captain Joe Root missed out on a double century but strengthened England against hosts Sri Lanka: SL vs Eng.

Captain Joe Root (186) scored the 19th Test century of his career, helping England to 339 for nine till the end of the third day’s game here on Sunday, the third day of the second Test cricket match against Sri Lanka.

Butler was sent to the pavilion by Mendes. Sam Curran (13) was then dismissed. Root then shared an important 81-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Dom Bas (32). In terms of the ICC World Test Championship, it is an important match for the England team.

The last wicket of the day fell to Root, who scored 186 runs in 309 balls with the help of 18 fours. However, before that he became the first foreign captain to score three centuries in Test cricket on Sri Lankan soil.

At the same time, after losing the first Test, the Sri Lankan team, which is looking forward to return to the second Test, has faced difficulties, because now only two days of play are left.

In such a situation, the Sri Lankan team would like to bat at least on the fourth day and score more than 300 runs on the score board. The England team is scheduled to visit India after this match, where the first four-match Test series will be played.
