The ruling BJP has suffered a major setback in the Karnataka municipal elections. Congress has emerged as the single largest party by winning 501 seats out of 1,184.
BJP came second in this election. BJP has got 431 seats. At the same time, JDS has captured 45 seats.

BJP has won in City Municipal Council. Out of 166 seats, BJP got the maximum number of 67 seats. Congress has won 61 seats and JDS has won 12 seats.
Congress has got the maximum number of seats in the Town Municipal Council. Of the 441 wards of the Town Municipal Council, Congress has got 201, BJP 176, and JDS 21.
