In the recently held assembly elections, the BJP MLA performed well and won a spectacular victory from the Nagrota seat. He was among the big leaders of the BJP. Devendra was the younger brother of Union Minister Jitendra Singh.
Devendra Singh Rana left the National Conference a few years ago and joined the BJP. He was the head of the Jammu division of NC. Devendra Singh Rana received 48113 votes in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. NC candidate Joginder Singh received 17641 votes. Thus, Devendra Singh prevailed by an overwhelming 30,472 vote majority. Congress candidate Balbir Singh received 6979 votes.
