Babar Azam Was Selected As ODI Player Of The Year By ICC

Babar Azam was selected as ODI Player of the Year by ICC: Pakistan captain.

The International Cricket Council has announced the name of the best ODI male player of the year 2021. Pakistan captain Babar Azam has been voted the best ODI player of the year.

It is worth noting that Mohammad Rizban of Pakistan was adjudged the best T20 player of the last year. On Monday, the ICC announced the name of the best ODI player of the year.

The ICC has rewarded Pakistani players for showing excellent form in the year 2021.

On the basis of last year’s performance, Babar was selected by the ICC as the best men’s player of the year.

Even though the Pakistani captain played only 6 ODIs last year, his performance was the best in terms of ICC. He scored 405 runs at an average of 67 with 2 centuries and 1 half-century.

Apart from Babar, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, South Africa’s sweetheart Malan and Ireland’s batting great Paul Starling were also in the race for the best ODI player.

Starling was the highest run-scorer last year with 705 runs in 14 ODIs. At the same time, Malan scored 509 runs in 8 ODIs.

On the basis of Babar’s excellent innings, Pakistan defeated South Africa at home. In the 2-1 win, his bat had scored a total of 228 runs and finished second in terms of runs scored.

Babar scored a century in the first match, while in the last ODI, he scored 94 runs in 82 balls.

Virat Kohli played 50 plus innings for the 191st time in international cricket, breaking Jayawardene’s record.

Former ODI captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli once again played good innings against South Africa in the Cape Town ODI i.e. third ODI, but he could not reach the century.

Kohli faced 84 balls in this match and scored 65 runs with the help of 5 fours. At the same time, he also played a good partnership of 98 runs with Shikhar Dhawan for the second wicket.

After this, he shared a 38-run partnership for the fourth wicket. In this match, his innings were ended by spinner Keshav Maharaj.
