Azam Khan Released From Jail After Getting Interim Bail
Azam Khan released from jail after getting interim bail from Supreme Court, Shivpal Yadav was present at the time of release.
Samajwadi Party’s founding member MLA Azam Khan was released from Sitapur district jail on Friday after 812 days.
After getting interim bail from the Supreme Court on Thursday, the order for the release of Azam Khan was received by the Sitapur district jail administration late at night, and arrangements were made for his release this morning.
Azam Khan came out of jail at 8:06 am. On the news of Azam Khan’s release, a crowd of his supporters started gathering near the jail gate from 5 in the morning.
Azam Khan’s eldest son Adeeb Azam was the first to reach the jail. After this, along with Azam Khan’s MLA son Abdullah Azam Khan, SP MLA Ashu Malik also reached Sitapur Jail.
Abdullah Azam went inside the jail at 6:55 am. Supporters of Azam Khan also reached Sitapur from Rampur, Lucknow, and other districts.
Samajwadi Party MLA Shivpal Singh Yadav, National President of Progressive Samajwadi Party, also reached Sitapur Jail at 7 am. He entered the jail premises in the car itself.
For the release of Azam Khan, the police of many police stations were deployed at the jail gate. The police administration was ready for the release of Azam Khan.
Policemen posted at all the entry points of the city were seen checking all the incoming vehicles.
Police were on standby near Vaidehi Vatika, RMP Mod, Bahuguna Square, Roadways, GIC Square, and Kashiram Colony. There were police from many police stations on the jail road.
Stayed at the house of former MLA Anoop Gupta: After coming out of jail, SP MLA Azam Khan has reached the residence of former MLA Anoop Gupta of Maholi.
Anoop Gupta’s house is barely 100 meters away from the jail. After staying here for about half an hour, he left for Rampur from Sitapur.
Azam Khan was lodged in Sitapur Jail since February 2020: SP MLA Azam Khan was sent to Sitapur District Jail on 27 February 2020 after being accused in various cases in Rampur.
He was accompanied by his wife Dr. Tazin Fatma and his younger son Abdullah Azam, who was also sent to Sitapur Jail. After about 10 months, his wife Tazin Fatma got bail.
Abdullah Azam was released on 15 January 2022. After getting bail, Azam Khan was released after about 27 months.
MLA remained in jail: Azam Khan, who was lodged in the district jail, also contested the assembly elections from jail. By winning the election, he became MLA from the Rampur Sadar seat.
The meeting of the leaders with the SP MLA last month was very much discussed.
Congress leader Pramod Krishnam also reached the district jail after the meeting of Praspa national president Shivpal Yadav.
Meanwhile, Azam Khan had refused to meet MLA Ravidas Mehrotra, who had accompanied the SP delegation.
The Supreme Court on Thursday granted interim bail to SP MLA Azam Khan.
His release order was awaited since the bail was granted. He could not be released due to a non-receipt of release permit till late Thursday evening.
