Anurag Gupta IPS seek a CBI probe against him, trust in Jharkhand Police. Jharkhand Police IPS Anurag Gupta ADG Anurag Gupta, an accused in the Rajya Sabha election-2016 FIR lodged in the Jagannathpur police station, has now reached the High Court.
He has also challenged the order related to the suspension of the government along with the FIR lodged at the Jagannathpur police station. In an application in the High Court, he has requested the CBI to conduct an inquiry against himself and has said that he does not expect justice from the Jharkhand Police’s research.
Now based on the application of ADG Anurag Gupta, the High Court has ordered the government to file an affidavit. Through affidavit, the government has to make all the facts related to the case and the current status of the case to the High Court.
ADG Anurag Gupta has been suspended since 11 months
ADG Anurag Gupta has been suspended for almost 11 months. On 14 February 2020 last year, Hemant Sarkar suspended ADG Anurag Gupta. He was then ADG of CID.
She is accused of luring then-MLA Nirmala Devi of Barkagaon to vote in favor of a BJP candidate in the Rajya Sabha election 2016 and threatening her husband former minister Yogendra Saw.
The FIR was lodged on the instructions of the Election Commission
Anurag Gupta, the then ADG of the Special Branch, was accused of luring money to Congress MLA Nirmala Devi in favor of a BJP candidate in the 2016 Rajya Sabha election.
The Election Commission of India conducted an inquiry on the complaint of the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha. The commission, after finding the prima facie allegations correct, ordered an FIR to be registered against them.
After this, an FIR was lodged in Jagannathpur police station on 29 March 2018 against ADG Anurag Gupta and Ajay Kumar, Advisor to the then Chief Minister Raghuvar Das.
In January 2018, the state government asked the commission to reconsider the matter. The commission rejected the government’s proposal and directed compliance with the earlier directive. Only after this, an FIR was registered against all the accused.
Statement of the then MLA
The then Barkagaon MLA Nirmala Devi also recorded her statement during the investigation of the FIR lodged at the Jagannathpur police station.
In his statement, he accused the then Chief Minister Raghuvar Das, the then ADG Special Branch Anurag Gupta, the then Chief Minister’s advisor Ajay Kumar for offering Rs five crore to vote for the BJP candidate in the Rajya Sabha election.
It was also alleged that the accused had also pressurized them to join BJP.
