Anil Deshmukh’s son will be questioned today, ED summons: Money laundering case.

Enforcement Directorate, ED will now interrogate Rishikesh, son of former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh in the money laundering case.

For this, a summon has been issued by the ED on Thursday. Under this, Rishikesh has to appear before the agency on Friday.

Deshmukh is currently in the custody of the ED, where he is being questioned in the money laundering case.

The NCP leader was brought out of the ED’s office around 12 noon and taken to a hospital in south Mumbai, the official said.

He was regularly examined at the hospital between 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm, after which he went back to the ED’s office, the official said.

Deshmukh’s lawyer Indrapal Singh said, ‘As per the order of the court, I have to be present during the interrogation of Anil Deshmukh.

His medical checkup was done and he is absolutely fine. Deshmukh, 71, was arrested by the ED late on Monday (November 1) in the money laundering case after questioning for more than 12 hours.

The former minister had skipped several summons issued by the ED in the case, but after the Bombay High Court refused to quash them last week, he appeared before the agency on Monday.

Anil Deshmukh’s son will be questioned today: A special holiday court here on Tuesday sent him to ED custody till November 6.

The agency had told the court that Deshmukh was the “main beneficiary” of the proceeds of the crime and was directly involved in the offense of money laundering.

The central agency, in its remand note, said that the NCP has been accused of collecting Rs 100 crore.

The ED had told the court that Deshmukh’s custodial interrogation is the need of the hour for investigation, and the entire money transaction needs to be established to bring the culprits to justice.

The CBI had launched the probe against Deshmukh and his associates on April 21 this year after registering an FIR against the NCP leader on charges of corruption and abuse of official position.

Deshmukh had earlier denied these allegations and said that the agency’s entire affair was based on malicious statements made by a tainted cop (Sachin Waze).
