Addressing a protest rally against the LDF government, Ramchandra said that if a woman has self-respect, she will commit suicide after the rape.

Ramachandran made this remark about the allegations of rape by former Congress minister AP Anil Kumar by Sarita Nair, accused in the solar scam.

The scandal was exposed during the Congress-led Oommen Chandy government, in which Sarita and her husband were accused of cheating crores of rupees from people through the solar panel scheme.

Sarita had recently filed a complaint against Anil Kumar.
