Amit Shah’s Twitter Account Locking Issue In PC On IT

Amit Shah’s Twitter Account Locking Issue in Parliamentary committee. Members of a parliamentary committee on Thursday raised the issue of temporarily locking Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Twitter account in 2020 and presenting a wrong image of India.

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology on Thursday protected the rights of citizens, internet Talked separately to representatives of Facebook, Twitter, and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology on the issue of preventing misuse of news media platforms and protecting women in the digital space.

In talks with representatives of Twitter, some members, especially BJP members, raised the issue of locking up Amit Shah’s account for a short term last year.

Some BJP members questioned Twitter’s fact-checking mechanism and wondered how the country’s home minister’s account was locked. A Twitter representative said that it was an inadvertent error and the decision was immediately changed.

Twitter had removed the display picture of Amit Shah’s Twitter account on the copyright holder’s report. Some members took to Twitter to question what was the basis for removing content from their platforms or blocking accounts, to which company representatives said they wanted to make it a healthy platform.

But some members were not satisfied with his reply. The committee members also raised the issue of proposed changes in the privacy policy of WhatsApp and mentioned the concerns of Indian citizens.

Members claimed that company representatives believed that monetary gains were being made from users’ data, while some members said that WhatsApp representatives said the proposed changes were intended to bring more transparency.

Apart from this, users’ chats and calls are still end-to-end encrypted. Some members who attended the meeting said that WhatsApp representatives were refraining from responding to the issue, they had no answer.
