Amarnath Yatra: Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweets picture of SDRF jawan, praises him for making Amarnath Yatra smooth and safe.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday lauded the NDRF team for providing safe Amarnath Yatra to every pilgrim.

Appreciating SDRF and NDRF for making Amarnath Yatra safe and smooth for pilgrims, Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, “NDRF and SDRF have always stood in the service of the nation and humanity against all odds.

May every pilgrim be safe.” Their role has been instrumental in fulfilling our goal of providing Amarnath Yatra.”

Shah tweeted, “Sharing the picture of an SDRF jawan who carried a lady passenger on his back for 3 km through the difficult terrain of the Himalayas while returning from the holy temple.

I want to be a symbol of safety for citizens.” Appreciate them for that.”

Officials said earlier on the same day that the annual Amarnath Yatra had resumed operations on Pahalgam Road after weather conditions improved.

Earlier, the yatra was suspended from Friday due to bad weather in Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities on Sunday stopped pilgrims from Jammu Base Camp due to the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar road.

Thousands of passengers stranded due to bad weather.

Officials said 6,000 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims were stranded at Ramban after the Yatra was suspended.

The Karnataka government on Saturday said at least 80 people from Karnataka were stranded in Panchtarni, 6 kilometers from the Amarnath cave, due to weather conditions.

More than 67,000 believers visited in one week.

Officials also said the Jammu Srinagar national road (NH44) was closed to vehicles in Ramban due to a landslide.

At least 67,566 pilgrims have visited the Amarnath Cave Temple since the beginning of the Yatra on July 1st.

On July 5, around 18,354 pilgrims set out from the Baltal and Nunwan base camps for the Amarnath Cave Temples.

Amarnath Yatra runs until 31 August.

“They include 12,483 men, 5,146 women, 457 children, 266 sadhu and two Sadvi,” an official statement earlier this week said.

Since its start, the number of pilgrims who have visited this place has increased to 67,566. More pilgrims will visit the temple in the future.”
