Ajit Pawar became the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly, and Jayant Patil proposed.

NCP’s Ajit Pawar has been elected the Leader of the Opposition for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

Ajit Pawar was elected the Leader of the Opposition for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in the NCP Legislature Party meeting.

NCP Legislature Party leader Jayant Patil proposed his name after which it was accepted in the assembly. Ajit Pawar is the nephew of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar.

Ajit Pawar was the Deputy Chief Minister of the state during the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

At the time of assembly elections in 2019, Ajit Pawar took oath along with Devendra Fadnavis in which Fadnavis became the CM and Ajit Pawar was given the post of Deputy Chief Minister at that time.

However, this government fell after Sharad Pawar came in front.

Ajit Pawar has been winning elections from the state NCP’s bastion Baramati.

After the breakup of Shiv Sena, NCP is now the second-largest party in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Before Ajit Pawar, Devendra Fadnavis was the Leader of the Opposition.

But now he has become the Deputy Chief Minister while Ajit Pawar, who previously held the post of Deputy Chief Minister, has now become the Leader of the Opposition.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Rahul Narvekar asked Ajit Pawar to come to the chair of the Leader of the Opposition.

After the speaker’s announcement, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that Ajit Pawar is a mature leader and administrator.

Amidst the proceedings of the floor test of the Eknath Shinde-BJP government in the Maharashtra Assembly, former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has once again approached the Supreme Court.

On behalf of the Uddhav camp, the decision of the new Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar has been challenged, in which he has approved the appointment of the Chief Whip of the Shinde faction as the whip of the Shiv Sena party.

However, the Supreme Court has given a date of July 11 on the matter by not hearing it immediately.

Here, the Shinde government has proved its majority in the assembly. 164 votes were cast in favor of his government.

BJP MLA Rahul Narvekar, who was fielded by the Shinde faction for the Speaker’s election, won on Sunday with 164 votes.

Hours later, he removed Shiv Sena’s chief whip, Sunil Prabhu, on behalf of the Uddhav faction and appointed Bharat Gogavale, who was brought from the Shinde camp, as the chief whip of the Shiv Sena.

He also rejected the appointment of Ajay Chaudhary, who was made the leader of the legislature party on behalf of the Uddhav faction and reinstated Eknath Shinde as the Shiv Sena leader.
