AIADMK crisis: O Panneerselvam blow! E Palaniswami elected interim general secretary.
The Madras High Court, while upholding the court not interfering in the political party’s feud, has upheld AIADMK leader and former coordinator OPS general council meeting was dismissed on Monday.
While this was followed by a meeting of the AIADMK general council to bring a proposal to restore the party’s general secretary post, Edappadi K Palaniswami was elected as the interim general secretary.
In the general council meeting of AIADMK, a resolution to abolish the post of coordinator and joint coordinator was passed.
In the General Council meeting of the AIADMK, EPS was authorized to take over the leadership of the party.
General Council appointed him as the interim general secretary and made him the general secretary of the party.
AIADMK’s General Council meeting is being held today July 11 at a marriage hall here.

This is the highest decision-making body of the main opposition party in Tamil Nadu.
After hearing lengthy arguments of senior lawyers of OPS and EPS, the judge reserved the order for today July 8.
The court also dismissed another petition challenging the general council meeting. The judge said that the meeting can be held as per the law.
Ahead of the meeting, clashes broke out between two groups of party workers outside the AIADMK headquarters here. Police gave this information.
The incident happened when the people of Palaniswami’s faction of leader Edappadi can choose him as their leader in the general council meeting.
Former coordinator O Panneerselvam along with his supporters reached the party office. While Palaniswami reached the place where the General Council meeting is being held.
In the morning, alleged supporters of both groups arrived with party flags and clashes broke out between them.
Images being shown on television showed some people pelting stones at each other and some damaging vehicles parked nearby. It is being told that some people have also suffered injuries during this.
Some people were seen forcibly opening the doors of the office and going inside. Security has been beefed up at the party office.
Whereas the AIADMK General Council has passed a resolution to reinstate the post of General Secretary and ensure the election of one person to the post by the primary members of the party.
The election will be held after 4 months. The AIADMK General Council also passed a resolution to abolish the dual leadership of the party and to create the post of Deputy General Secretary for the party.
