Action Plans Have Been Formulated By Kerala Govt’s Department of Health for relief camps during the COVID period. Action plans have been formulated for the treatment of accident victims and effective control of post-flood epidemics.

Thiruvananthapuram: The guidelines of the health department are aimed at carrying out relief work without affecting the COVID defense. Action plans have been formulated for the treatment of flood victims and for effective control of post-flood epidemics.

The Department of Health’s action plan addresses both short- and long-term issues, such as the treatment of the injured and the physical and mental health of the survivors. Institutions located in areas prone to floods and landslides during the last floods will prepare a list and move medical records, medicines and equipment to a safe place.

Alternative space will be found for setting up temporary hospitals. There are two types of camps and two types of relief camps will be set up for those affected and not. Adjustments can also be made to maintain social distance.

Special camps will be set up for people between the ages of 18 and 50 who do not have other illnesses. Mask use will be mandatory in these areas. All camps will have two check-ups a day to see if there are any symptoms. Those who show symptoms will be transferred to Covid First Line Treatment Centers.

Sunscreens have been asked to be stocked in advance as floodwaters are not safe. A list will be prepared of critically ill patients in flood prone areas and the medicines they use. Special care will be taken to ensure adequate medical facilities for them.

Steps will be taken to dispense medicines to all patients with chronic diseases. Special emphasis will be given to pregnant women, bedridden people, the elderly, those living alone, and people with disabilities.

The relief camps will be set up keeping the social distance in the Kovid context. The relief camps will operate according to the Kovid protocol. Respiratory symptoms will be checked twice a day at all relief camps.

Those who show symptoms will be tested for antigen. People with symptoms will be relocated separately. Hand washing facilities and sanitizers will be stored. Everyone in the relief camps must wear a mask.

Volunteers will be deployed at the rate of one per 20 households in the affected areas. Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) consisting of doctors were already set up everywhere, from the PHC to the general hospital. These groups are deployed for relief operations.
