Action on two station in-charges for assaulting media persons, eight transferred.

The police have relieved two SHOs, who were accused of assaulting media persons during the Muharram procession in Srinagar, from their present duties and transferred them to the District Police Lines.

Apart from this, three other inspectors and three sub-inspectors have also been transferred.

Taking strong notice of this entire matter, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh had asked the District SSP to take action against the inappropriate behavior of the concerned police officers.

Let us tell you that despite prohibitory orders on Tuesday, people of the Shia community tried to take out processions in Jahangir Chowk and Dalgate areas.

During this, there were sporadic clashes with Shia mourners who were taking out a police procession.

During this, the police officers posted at Jahangir Chowk, including the station in charge of Shergarhi Aftab Ahmed, asked the media persons to leave from there.

At the same time, the lathi-lashing was started. The video of this entire incident has also gone viral on the internet media.

The media persons also brought this matter to the notice of the Police Administration and the Lieutenant Governor’s Administration.

Taking cognizance of the matter, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh directed District SSP Sandeep Chaudhary to take immediate action against the concerned police officers.

After this, the charge of the station in-charge has been withdrawn from two police inspectors while transferring eight police officers.

Masuma police station in-charge Mushtaq Ahmed and Shergarhi police station in-charge Aftab Ahmed have been sent to the district police lines.

Sub Inspector Shaukat Ali Dardi has been made the station in charge of Maisuma, while no one has been appointed as Shergarhi police station in-charge at present.

Kothibagh station in charge Mohammad Isaac has been transferred to the post of a police station in-charge of Rajbagh.

Inspector Mudassar Nazar has been transferred from the post of Rajbagh SHO to Kothibagh Police Station-in-charge.

Inspector Manzoor Ahmed has been made in charge of the Nehru Park police outpost while sub-inspector Sheikh Adil has been posted as in charge of the Bagiyas police outpost.

Sub Inspector Ghulam Mustafa has been transferred to District Police Lines and Probationer Sub Inspector Zaheer Nisar has been transferred to Urdu Bazar Police Chowki as in-charge.
