Congress leader and Supreme Court lawyer Brijesh Kalappa on Wednesday resigned citing his “lack of energy and enthusiasm” towards the party.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Kalappa wrote, “First of all, I want to thank you wholeheartedly for the many opportunities you have provided me.

If I am recognized as a familiar face in all parts of this extraordinarily vast nation, it is indeed possible because of your patronage.

I thank you again for having been appointed as the Legal Adviser to the Government of Karnataka with the rank of Minister.

Karnataka Textbook Controversy: CM Basavaraj Bommai said on the textbook controversy, ‘action will be taken on the basis of the report of the Education Minister.’

The controversy over the amendment in the textbook in Karnataka is not taking its name to stop. The opposition is taking an attacking stand on the state government over the textbook dispute.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has reacted to the textbook controversy.

He said on Tuesday that further action on the textbook review controversy would be taken on the basis of the report of the Education Minister.

Addressing media persons at Mangaluru airport on Tuesday, CM Bommai said the education minister has been asked to submit a report.

The Minister has informed that he will submit a report after considering all aspects of the issue.

The minister had also met the seer of the Adichunchanagiri Math and said that he would present the facts along with the records.
The CM said that appropriate action would be taken after receiving the report on this entire matter.

A section of seers has alleged that the teachings of social reformer Basavanna have been distorted in the revised Kannada and social science textbooks for Class X students.

The saints have also accused the review committee of insulting the national anthem of poet Kuvempu.
