What is Operation Safed Sagar?
During Operation Safed Sagar, Air Force Station Sarsawa’s 152 Helicopter Unit, dubbed “The Mighty Armor,” was crucial.
On 28 May 1999, Squadron Leader R Pundir, Flight Lieutenant S Muhilan, Sergeant PVNR Prasad, and Sergeant RK Sahu of 152 HU were given the responsibility of flying as Nubra Formation to directly attack enemy positions at Tololing.
After successfully carrying out this air attack, their helicopter was targeted by the enemy’s Stinger missile in which four brave soldiers sacrificed their lives.
